Three benefits of adopting thermal analysis for your LED lights

Sarah da Silva Andrade, Niels Verdijck and Lieven Vervecken

LEDs operating in high temperatures might prematurely fail and provide less light output. Adequate thermal management is crucial to improve production costs, material usage and operating range. While conventional experimental tests can be expensive, time-demanding and require extensive preparation, the current technologies simplify this process by using numerical simulations to predict the LED behavior.

  • The paper provides an overview of the LED mechanism and its thermal challenges.
  • The modeling and analysis process involves certain assumptions outlined in the paper.
  • Simulation studies are conducted to evaluate the thermal performance of LEDs.
  • The performance results of the simulation studies are presented.
